John J. McCune of Somerset, MA December 11, 1934 - February 27, 2025 John was born and raised in Medford, MA.  He graduated from Medford High School.  Upon graduation, he enlisted in the United States Navy, serving in North Africa and Cuba. John spent his entire career working for the City of Somerville as a police officer.  Of his many professional milestones, he proudly held his graduation from the FBI National Academy as a noteworthy accomplishment.  John retired from the department at the rank of Captain. In his day, John loved to read.  He was committed to his physical fitness and enjoyed running, later walking, and even cycling well into his 80's!  He stayed busy, always working on projects around the house or offering assistance to friends who needed a helping hand.  During quiet times, he enjoyed an occasional 2 fingers of Scotch. John is predeceased by his wife Mary.  He is survived by his sons John and wife Stephanie of Wilmington, Mark of Somerset, Glenn and his wife Sheila of Westerly, RI, as well as his brother James of Somerville and many nieces, nephews, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. Services are private.  John will be laid to rest at the Massachusetts National Cemetery in Bourne.
