John J. Rienzo Jr. of Reading, age 90, passed away on August 29th, 2016. John was a loving son, husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, brother and uncle. He will be missed by all who knew him.
John was the beloved husband of the late Frances (Kuchenbrod) Rienzo. Devoted father of John J. Rienzo III and his wife Nancy, Gerard Rienzo and his wife Karen, the late Thomas Rienzo and his surviving wife Cathy, the late Michael Rienzo, Peter Rienzo and his late wife Joni, Maryann Ferrara and her husband Thomas, Paul Rienzo and his wife Susan, Anthony Rienzo and his wife Mary and Francis Rienzo and his wife Brenda. John was the cherished grandfather of 25 and the great grandfather to many. John was the brother of Mary Elizabeth Noll and her late husband Dean, Ignatius Rienzo and his wife Maureen, the late Aloysius Rienzo and his late wife Margaret, Gregory Rienzo and his late wife Rosalie, Francis Rienzo and his late wife Joan and Bernadette Rienzo and her companion Diane Condon of Reading, MA.
John grew up in Bayside, NY. Upon graduating from Bishop Loughlin Memorial High School, John enlisted in the United States Army where he served in Germany during WWII.
Upon his Honorable Discharge in 1946, John attended and graduated from Manhattan College School of Engineering with a degree in electrical engineering.
John became a resident of Reading with his loving family in 1956.
John retired from GE in the 1980's. Tired of the retirement life style, John returned to the workforce working for RD Kimball on the Ted Williams Tunnel.
John was very active in St. Agnes Catholic Church in Reading. He played many roles including, choir, Leader of the Men's group among others.
John enjoyed camping and hiking with his family, fishing and building balsam wood model airplanes. John also enjoyed going to breakfast at the Last Corner with the men and ladies from the St. Agnes.
Funeral from the Doherty-Barile Family Funeral Home, 11 Linden St. READING Saturday at 9:30am followed by a Funeral Mass Celebrating John's Eternal Life in St. Agnes Church, 186 Woburn St, Reading at 10:30am. Family and friends are cordially invited to gather and share memories with the Family on Friday, September 2nd from 4-8pm in the Funeral Home. Parking attendants and ramped entrance are available. Interment Charles Lawn Cemetery, Reading.
