John J. Skistimas

November 15, 1924 — September 6, 2002

John Joseph Skistimas passed away on Friday September 6, 2002 at the Melrose-Wakefield Hospital in Melrose. He was 77 years of age.

Born in Cambridge, Massachusetts, Mr. Skistimas was a resident of Stoneham for many years. He was a retired police officer of the Cambridge Police Department. Mr. Skistimas belonged to the Warren Pals men's club. Mr. Skistimas also proudly served our country in World War II as an Aviation Machinist Mate Third Class in the United States Navy.

Mr. Skistimas was the beloved husband of the late Mary (Puleio) Skistimas. He was the devoted father of John J. Skistimas Jr. and his wife Elizabeth of Stoneham and Francine DeGrande-Rosenthal and her husband Dave of Stoneham. John was the loving grandfather of Samantha and Jared Skistimas, and Emily and Stephen Rosenthal. He was the dear brother of Helen Fleming of Cambridge, Mary Romans of Brockton, Benny Skistimas of Carver, Walter Skistimas of Brockton, and the late Stanley Skistimas.

Relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend calling hours at the Barile Family Funeral Home 482 Main St. STONEHAM on Sunday 4-8pm. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated in memory of John's life in St. Patrick's Church 71 Central St. Stoneham on Monday at 9am with interment immediately following in Lindenwood Cemetery.
