Guerino "John" Tamburrini of Stoneham passed away on Tuesday, March 29, 2016 at Bear Hill Nursing and Rehab Center in Stoneham.
Born in Cassino, Italy, John was the son of the late Crescenzo Tamburrini and Angelina (Tomassi) Tamburrini. John was a warm and caring son, brother, husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, uncle and friend. He was loved by all and will be missed by all.
John was a lifelong resident of Stoneham. He graduated from Stoneham High School, class of 1953. During the Korean War, John proudly defended our freedom by serving as a Specialist 3rd Class in the United States Army. He was a loyal and dedicated employee of Stoneham Department of Public Works for 29 years. Devoted to public service, John was a Stoneham Auxiliary Policeman. He was a member of the Marconi Club and the Stoneham VFW. As a proud veteran, John happily organized the Stoneham Memorial Day Parade for several years. He was an avid model train collector and wood worker. He could be found at Dunkin Donuts with his friends always greeting people with a smile and firm handshake.
John was the beloved husband of the late Janet (Stiles) Tamburrini. He was the devoted father of Jack Tamburrini and his wife Donna, James Tamburrini and his wife Doreen, Joanie Tamburrini and her companion Robert Shannon and Jill Imlach and her husband Stephen. John was the devoted grandfather of Michael Wells and his wife Merideth, Brian Wells and his wife Leonor, Shaun Wells, John Tamburrini, James Tamburrini and his wife Meghan, Joseph Tamburrini and his companion Katie and Nicholas Imlach. He was the loving great grandfather of Kennedi, Brian, Carson, Kaleigh, Lynnelle, KC and Ava. John was the dear brother of Armando Tamburrini and twin sisters, Mary Sarcia and Phyllis Smith. He was also survived by many loving nieces and nephews.
Funeral from the Barile Family Funeral Home, 482 Main St. (RT 28) STONEHAM Monday, April 4th at 9am followed by a Funeral Mass Celebrating John's Eternal Life in St. Patrick Church, 71 Central St. Stoneham at 10am. Family and friends are cordially invited to gather and share memories with the Family on Sunday, April 3rd from 2-6pm in the Funeral Home. Parking attendants and elevator are available. Interment with Military Honors will take place at Lindenwood Cemetery, Stoneham.
