John J. Upton

John J. Upton of Reading passed away on Sunday, July 29, 2007 at the Sawtelle Family Hospice House in Reading. He was 77 years of age.
Born in Revere, John was the loving son of the late Thomas Upton and Esther (Greggerman) Upton. John was a warm and caring son, brother, husband, father, grandfather, uncle and friend. He will be sadly missed.
John was a dedicated employee for the United States Postal Service. He drove the van for C-MARC services, making sure people were able to go to work. John also worked at the Wonderland Race Track and the Suffolk Diner. He was the Past Exalted Ruler of the Wakefield Elks, also serving on the Veterans Committee there. John was a proud United Air Force Veteran, serving our country during the Korean War.
John's true love was for his family. They were first and foremost in his life. He truly loved and cherished his grandson.

John was the beloved husband of Marie (Coppola) Upton. He was the devoted father of Virginia Comparone and her husband Frank of Salisbury, John J. Upton Jr. of Bedford and Jane E. Upton of Florida. John was the cherished and loving grandfather of Patrick F. Comparone. He was the dear brother of Alice Williams of Florida, Marilyn Perry of Saugus, Lawrence Upton of Florida, and the late William, Thomas, Edward and Robert Upton and Dorothy Cunningham. He was also survived by many loving nieces and nephews.
Funeral from the Joseph Doherty - Barile Family Funeral Home 11 Linden St. READING Thursday at 8am followed by a Funeral Mass celebrating John's life in St. Agnes Church, 186 Woburn St. Reading at 9am. Family and friends are kindly invited to attend Visiting Hours Wednesday 4-8pm. Parking is available in the municipal parking lot located on Linden St. Interment Charles Lawn Memorial Park, Reading.
