In Loving Memory of Joey Cara Donna
Joey Cara Donna, of Ft. Lauderdale, FL, passed away. He leaves behind a legacy of warmth, humor, and cherished memories.
Joey is survived by his beloved fiancée, Renee Karvelas, and her cherished daughter, Nicole Karvelas, who resides in Pasadena, CA. He is also remembered with love by his siblings: Patricia Ann Cara Donna of Port St. Lucie, FL; Leo Cara Donna of Maui, HI; and Jennifer Fellini and her husband, Mike Fellini. His nephews, Jay Correia and his wife, Rose, along with their children, Gabriella and Joseph; Robert Correia and his wife, Maria, with their children, Vincent and Margaux; Paul Cara Donna and his wife, Amy, with their daughter, Zoe; Christopher Cara Donna; Stephen Griffiths and his wife, Chloe, with their daughter, Grace; and Joseph Griffiths and his wife, Sara, with their children, Olivia and Joseph.
Joey was preceded in death by his loving parents, Leopold and Joan Cara Donna, who undoubtedly welcomed him with open arms.
A proud business owner and partner of Cara Donna Provision in Boston, Joey carried forward the family legacy, running the third-generation provision company with his brother, Leo, and cousins, Joe Cara Donna III and Chris Cara Donna. This company, founded by his grandfather and later managed by his father and uncle, was a significant part of Joey’s life until its sale and his retirement in 2016.
Joey was known for his infectious sense of humor, his love of storytelling, and his authentic nature—what you saw was what you got. He had a kind heart and an innate ability to connect with new people, leaving a lasting impression on everyone he met. Among his many talents, Joey was a gifted guitarist, having played for over 40 years, and able to tune his guitar by ear. His family fondly remembers him playing tunes and challenging them to guess the song, a testament to his love for music.
An accomplished individual, Joey took great pride in his various achievements. He was a successful business owner, an avid hockey player in his youth, and a dedicated cyclist, riding 30 miles several times a week. Joey’s passion for life extended beyond his work and hobbies. He loved being on the ocean, whether boating or riding his motorcycle along the coast. His love for hockey never waned, both playing and watching the sport with enthusiasm.
Joey’s joy in life was evident in the time he spent with family and friends, often engaging in lighthearted pranks, especially with his nephew Bobby and his children. Family BBQs were a highlight, where his sister always made sure his favorite dishes were served. Joey also had a special bond with his two French bulldogs, Bentley and Coal, who brought him endless joy.
Joey’s love for travel was another passion he shared with Renee. Together, they embarked on adventures that took them on cruises, to the stunning Amalfi Coast in Italy, to Disney World, and to the vibrant city of New Orleans. These journeys were filled with laughter, exploration, and the joy of each other’s company.
Joey Cara Donna was a man deeply loved by his family and friends, and his love for them was equally profound. Though he may no longer be with us, his spirit will live on in the memories and hearts of those who knew him. He will be missed, but never forgotten.
