Joseph M. Kelly

November 20, 1943 — April 14, 2016

Joseph M. Kelly of Stoneham peacefully passed away on April 14, 2016 at the Massachusetts General Hospital at the age of 72 following a two year battle with cancer. He is a loving father, brother, uncle and friend and will be missed by all who knew him.

Joe is the devoted father of Karen Kelly. He is the loving son of the late John Kelly and Linda (DiCicco) Kelly. Joe is the dear brother of Joan and Ed Barry, Mary and Don Berube, Henry and Marcia Kelly, Dennis and Jackie Kelly, Thomas and Beverly Kelly, Paula and Robert Georgette, David Kelly, Kathy and Robert DiCarlo, Peggy Gleason, Bobby and Marianne Kelly and the late John Kelly and his surviving wife Diane. He is also survived by many loving nieces and nephews.

Joe loved watching and playing sports. He played football, baseball and basketball in HS and continued playing sports on adult teams. As a young man he fell in love with skiing and golf, and excelled at both. Joe loved to travel – skiing across Europe with friends, and later traveling with his friends and daughter on trips to Italy and Sicily. Joe was a surveyor and later worked for and retired from UPS. In retirement he worked for Ideal Tape, gaining wonderful friendships along the way. Joe was a great cook, father, son, brother, uncle and friend. Joe had many lifelong friends which he treasured. His most fulfilling role was father to daughter Karen. "Joey" could always make you laugh and lift your spirits. He had a terrific sense of humor if you were part of the joke – you know he loved you.
