Joseph J. Paonessa

Joseph J. Paonessa of Stoneham, passed away on Wednesday, April 19, 2023.  He is 92 years of age.

Born on Thursday, May 1, 1930 in Winchester, Joseph is the loving son of the late Domenic Paonessa and Teresa (Severino) Paonessa.  Joseph is a warm, gentle & kind son, brother, husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, uncle and friend who will be truly missed.

Joe married the love of his life Florence on April 10,1955 at Saint Patrick Church in Stoneham.  He lived in Stoneham for over 60 years. Joseph worked at John J. Paonessa Construction Company in Medford for many years.  A life member of the Sons of Italy Lodge 1580 in Winchester, he served as Past President as well as many different positions and he proudly defended our freedom by serving as a Corporal in the United States Army during the Korean War.

Joseph is the beloved husband of Florence (Hurlburt) Paonessa.  He is the devoted father of Joseph Paonessa and his wife Karen, Alan Paonessa and his husband Tom Belunis and Diane Capraro and her husband Peter.  He is the cherished grandfather of Allyson Wallace and her husband Jay, Amanda Sapienza and her husband Michael, Peter Capraro Jr. and his wife Carley, Scott Capraro and his wife Jessica & Ryan Capraro. Joseph is also the doting great grandfather of Charlotte, Olivia, Emma, Will, A.J., William & Benjamin.  He is also lovingly survived by many nieces & nephews.

Funeral from the Barile Family Funeral Home, 482 Main St. (RT 28) STONEHAM, Thursday, April 27^th at 9am followed by a Funeral Mass Celebrating Joseph’s Eternal Life in St. Patrick Church, 71 Central St. Stoneham at 10am.  Family and friends are cordially invited to gather and share memories with Joseph’s Family on Wednesday, April 26^th from 4-7pm in the Funeral Home.  Parking attendants and elevator are available.  Interment Forest Glade Cemetery, Wakefield.
