Joseph T. Silva

April 20, 1925 — May 28, 2009

Joseph T. Silva of Melrose passed away on Thursday, May 28, 2009 at the Winchester Hospital. He was 84 years of age.



Born in Boston, Joseph was the loving son of the late Leapollina (Thomas) and Joseph J. Silva. Joseph was a warm and caring son, husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather. He will be sadly missed.



Joseph was the Past President of Somerville Lions Club and a Member of VFW Post 19 in Somerville. He was a master electrician in the City of Somerville for over 30 years.



During World War II, Joseph proudly defended our freedom by serving in the United States Army.



Joseph was the beloved husband of the late Irma (Blaney). He was the devoted father of Donna Tarquinio and her husband Richard of Melrose, Elaine Good and her husband Neil of Mashpee, Marsha Muir of Melrose and the late Frank Silva of Cambridge. He was the loving grandfather of Keith, Jason, Marc, Christine, Anthony, Marie Tarquinio and Matthew and Christopher Good and the cherished great grandfather of Jesse, Aaron and Joseph Tarquinio. Joseph was the loving companion of Hope Martino of Lexington.



Funeral from the Barile Family Funeral Home 482 Main St. (RT28) STONEHAM Monday at 8am followed by a Funeral Mass Celebrating Joseph's Life in St. Patrick's Church 71 Central St. Stoneham at 9 am. Family and friends are kindly invited to gather and share remembrances with the family Sunday 1-4pm in the funeral home. Interment St. Patrick's Cemetery, Stoneham.
