Josephine D. Polizzi - Thorner of Stoneham, formerly of East Boston passed away on February 4, 2009 after a seven year courageous struggle with cancer.





Josephine is the beloved wife of Robert Thorner of thirteen years who provided her with support, much care, happiness and lots of love. She was the loving sister of Frances Loperfido and her husband Victor of Stoneham, Dianne Polizzi and her husband Joseph Bethoney of Sherborn, Michael Polizzi and his wife Michela of Saugus, Richard Polizzi and his wife Nancy of Stoneham, Philip Polizzi and his wife Frances of West Roxbury. Josephine was the cherished daughter of the late Mario L. Polizzi and Josephine (Abbate) Polizzi. She is survived by many loving aunts and cousins. Josephine was also survived by many loving nieces and nephews: Erica and Robert Brown, Janeen and Salvatore DeMartinis of Danvers, Melissa Loperfido of Stoneham, David Bethoney of Sherborn, Craig and Brandon Polizzi of Stoneham, Kelli-Ann and Christopher Mullen of Newton, Jillian and Brian Griffiths, Steven Polizzi of West Roxbury. She loved being a great-aunt to Robert J. Brown, Hadley & Ella Mullen. Cocoa her companion dog was always there providing her with lots of unconditional love and happiness.





Josephine was well-known in the town of Stoneham. She owned and operated a beauty salon, Josephine's Hair Design on Franklin Street. She was very proud of her business of 14 years. Her clientele was very special to her. She shared her happy, warm personality to many people and was extremely respected and loved by them. She was always willing to accommodate senior customers with home services. Her compassionate, loving way comforted many people. Josephine will be missed by her husband, family and many friends, but her happy, loving memories will live in our hearts forever.





A Funeral Mass celebrating Josephine's life was held on Monday at St. Joseph's Church, 173 Albion St. Wakefield. Burial was in Holy Cross Cemetery, Malden.
