Julia Hurley McCarthy

Julia T. (Hurley) McCarthy of Reading passed away on April 7, 2015, at age 85. Julia has been the beloved wife of William J. McCarthy for over 51 years. She is the loving mother of Paul McCarthy and Maria McCarthy. She is the daughter of Irish immigrants, the late Daniel and Helen (Toland) Hurley.

Julia was a devoted Catholic. Her faith in God greatly enhanced her life as well as those that she interacted with. She will be remembered as kind, loyal and generous. She attended night school at Boston College, graduating in 1953. After college, she taught English at Stoughton High School for ten years before the birth of her children. While teaching at Stoughton, she earned a master's degree in English from Boston College.

Funeral from the Doherty – Barile Family Funeral Home, 11 Linden St. READING on Friday, April 10, 2015 at 9:30am followed by a Funeral Mass celebrating Julia's Eternal Life in St. Agnes Church, 186 Woburn St. Reading at 10:30am. Family and friends are cordially invited to gather and share remembrances with the Family on Thursday, April 9, 2015 from 4-7pm in the Funeral Home. Parking attendants and ramped entrance are available. Interment Laurel Hill Cemetery, Reading.
