Julia F. Sweeney

Julia F. (Sukiel) Sweeney of Stoneham, Massachusetts, passed away on Wednesday, February 1, 2012 at the Winchester Hospital in Winchester.

Julia was born on December 11, 1920 in Charlestown Massachusetts. She was the third child of the late Michael and Antonina "Gusczynski" Sukiel. She grew up with her 11 siblings and, worked at the Statler Hotel in Boston, Massachusetts as a pastry cook.

Julia was a devoted wife of 66 years to William Sweeney, and a loving mother to 8 children. Her son Michael J. Sweeney who served in the United States Merchant Marines for 40 plus years at the age of 59, sadly predeceased her in 2005. She was also predeceased by her twin infant daughters Judith and Janice Sweeney.

Julia loved to read history books and was talented at making crafts. She was also awarded a "Bronze Leader" for her steadfast generosity to the Disabled American Veterans Commanders Club.

She is survived by her children William T. Sweeney (Billy) Jr. and his late wife June; John J. Sweeney ll "Jackie" and his wife Lisa; Robert R. Sweeney; Carolann and her husband George Cassello; Julie Sweeney. She is also survived by many loving nieces and nephews.

Loving Nana, "Bamie" and "Nunny" to 10 Grandchildren: Richard, Darlene, Michael, John, Mark, George, Justin, Sara, Olivia, Andrea, and 16 Great Grandchildren.

A pastoral service and burial was held for her at Massachusetts National Cemetery in Bourne, Massachusetts on February 10, 2012.
