June C. (Silverio) Couture, 92, beloved wife of Raymond R. Couture, passed away on Sunday, September 2, 2018. Born in Beverly, she is the daughter of the late Joseph Silverio and Ida (Barbati) Silverio Rackle.
June grew up in Reading, Stoneham, and Beverly. She was a graduate of Beverly High School and attended Curry College. Before her marriage she worked at State Mutual and New England Mutual Insurance companies. June dedicated herself to being a mother and homemaker. She participated actively in community service with the National Park Service, the USS Constitution Museum and Commandant's House, Florence Crittenton organization, Toys for Tots, and the Mass. Bay Council of the Navy League and Board of the Navy League of the United States. She had a longtime interest in historic preservation and was a member of Historic New England and the National Trust for Historic Preservation.
Surviving her are her husband, Raymond, daughters Christine L. Nelson and Karen A. Couture, and Karen's husband, David W. Lawson. She was predeceased by her sister Joan Jehan and brother-in-law Ronald Jehan.
Family and friends are cordially invited to gather and share memories with June's family at the Doherty-Barile Funeral Home, 11 Linden St, READING on Thursday, September 6, 2018 from 4-7:30 pm.
