Kathleen Lane Errickson, a devoted wife, loving mother, cherished grandmother, and steadfast pillar of faith, passed away peacefully on Easter Sunday, April 5, 2026, in Vero Beach, Florida, surrounded by her family. Born on August 1, 1925, in Cambridge, Massachusetts to the late Calvin and Prudence Waugh Lane, Kathleen’s life was marked by unwavering dedication, kindness, and an enduring spirit that touched the hearts of all who knew her.
Kathleen graduated from Sacred Heart High School in Newton, Massachusetts, where her journey of faith and family values took root. Her career led her to the Hollywood Beach Hotel in Hollywood, Florida, a place that would change her life forever when she met her husband, the late George Errickson, in 1946. Together, they built a loving family and a life filled with warmth, laughter, and commitment.
Known for her faithful, strong, and wise nature, Kathleen devoted herself to her faith as a Eucharistic Minister for over 25 years. Her spirituality was the foundation of her life, and her faith in Jesus Christ carried her through some of life’s most difficult times. She lovingly nurtured her family with the same strength and dedication, taking great pride in her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.
Kathleen’s family fondly recalls the treasured moments spent on Cape Cod at their family home in Pocasset, sharing in the joy of her company and her impeccable sense of direction that often guided their adventures. Summer nights found her walking around the island, immersing herself in the simple pleasures of life. Her energetic personality shone through in her love for thrift store shopping, bargaining for treasures, rooting passionately for all her beloved Boston sports teams—especially the Red Sox, and faithfully saying the rosary every night.
Her coleslaw and fudge recipes were legendary among her loved ones, a small but sweet reflection of her caring nature. Kathleen’s close bonds extended to all her sisters in Florida, while living close by one another in their later years and cherishing their sisterhood with deep affection.
Kathleen’s family mourns the loss of her beloved husband George; her son, Dean Errickson; and her three brothers Harry, Tom and Vincent; and five sisters Mary, Claire, Madeline, Prudence and Agnes who all predeceased her. She is lovingly remembered and survived by her daughter Susan Fortunato, her son Glenn Errickson and his wife Janesa; as well as her grandchildren Stacy Knickle and husband Jayson, Kyle Errickson and wife Jessica, Scott Fortunato and partner Brooke, Katelyn Glenn and husband Issac, Megan Murray, and her great-grandchildren Fletcher Errickson and Austin Knickle. Many nieces and nephews also carry forward “Aunt Kay’s” legacy of unconditional love and kindness.
A Mass celebrating Kathleen’s life will be held on May 18, 2026, from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. at Saint Patrick Church, 71 Central Street, Stoneham, Massachusetts. Private interment to follow.
Kathleen Lane Errickson’s life was a testament to love, devotion, and faith. Her strength and kindness will continue to inspire those who were fortunate enough to know her. As we remember her gentle spirit and everlasting soul, we hold her memory close, grateful for the blessing of her presence in our lives.
