Kathleen Marie Goodhue, born February 11,1957 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, passed away early on June 25,2022 at the home of her sister Jay Flynn. Jay along with DJ Goodhue Kathleen’s son and another sister Sharon Graves were with Kathleen when she died. She is survived by her son David J Goodhue, brother William Flynn and his wife Jennifer and four sisters: Sharon Graves and her husband Donald; Jay Flynn; Aline Verbunt; and Maryellen King and her husband Donald. She was preceded in death by her parents Eugene Flynn and Grace (Moroz) Flynn.
Kathleen spent most of her youth in Wayland, Massachusetts where she graduated from high school in 1975 before attending the University of Massachusetts at Amherst. She graduated Magna Cum Laude in 1979 and went on to enjoy a successful marketing career. The pride and joy of her life was her son, known by all as DJ. Attending his baseball and football games gave her much pleasure. DJ developed into an accomplished youth skier and was a high performing Junior Olympian. Kathleen and her family traveled the states watching his thrilling and awarded competitions.
In the Fall of 2000, Kathleen was diagnosed with Multiple Myeloma which was a rare and incurable form of cancer at the time. Valiantly fighting this vicious disease, Kathleen lived decades beyond expected life expectancy. Her enthusiasm and relentless positivity were as important as the medical care she received at Dana Farber under Dr. Kenneth Anderson and Nurse Practitioner Tina Flaherty.
Kathleen was known for her loving and uplifting smile, a powerful positive attitude, and an appreciation of the support of a large, strong family and group of close friends. Her brilliant blue eyes concealed her relentless courage and toughness, her extraordinary character was and continues to be an inspiration to her family and friends.
A Memorial Mass Celebrating Kathleen’s Eternal Life will be held on Saturday, July 9th at 10am in Saint Zepherin Church 99 Main Street WAYLAND.
