Kathleen A. (Abbott) Shannon

Kathleen "Kathy" (Abbott) Shannon, 62, beloved wife of 40 years to Will Shannon, passed away on Wednesday, March 25, 2020, at Massachusetts General Hospital after a hard fought battle with Leukemia. Born in Malden, she is the loving daughter of the late Ann (Hardy) Abbott and Robert Abbott and his wife Jean.

Kathy grew up in Malden and was a graduate of Malden High School, class of 1976. She worked for the Department of Education and had a long career with Delta Dental. Kathy loved life. Kathy enjoyed traveling, trips to Aruba, and Good Harbor beach. Her greatest joy came from her family. She loved spending time with her husband, children, grandchildren, siblings, and many friends who she considered family.

Kathy is the Devoted Mother of Emily van Herp and her husband Kristofer and Caitlin Beaudet and her husband Craig. Cherished grandmother of Kiera and Riley van Herp and Blake Beaudet. Beloved sister of Robert Abbott and his wife Terry, Karen Brady and her husband George, Michael Abbott, and Cindy Abbott and her husband Rodrigo; along with many nieces, nephews and loving extended family.

A Funeral Service Celebrating Kathleen's Eternal Life will be held at the Immaculate Conception Church, 600 Pleasant St., Malden, on Saturday, March 27, 2021 at 10am. Interment will follow in Calvary Cemetery, Winchester/Woburn.
