Kenneth D. "Hoppy" Holtsberg of Reading passed away on Thursday, January 8, 2009 at the Sawtelle Family Hospice House in Reading. He was 67 years of age.
Born in Stoneham, Hoppy was the loving son of Alfred B. Holtsberg and Edith (Day) Holtsberg. Hoppy was a warm and caring son, brother, husband, father, grandfather, uncle and friend. He will be sadly missed.
Hoppy was a lifelong resident of Reading. He was an active member in the Reading V.F.W. and American Legion. Hoppy loved music and sports, most especially the Boston Red Sox and New England Patriots. He enjoyed taking day trips to camp in Moultonboro, New Hampshire.
Hoppy was the beloved husband of Shirley (Palmer) Holtsberg. He was the devoted father of Christopher Holtsberg and his wife Diana, and Robin Holtsberg. Hoppy was the cherished grandfather of Julia and Alison. He was the dear brother of Beverly Holtsberg, Barbara Kepler, William Holtsberg and his wife Denise.
A Funeral Service celebrating Hoppy's life will be held on Wednesday at 10am in the Chapel of the Doherty - Barile Family Funeral Home, 11 Linden St. READING. Family and friends are kindly invited to gather and share remembrances with the Family on Tuesday from 4-8pm in the Funeral Home. Parking is available in the municipal parking lot on Linden St. Interment Charles Lawn Memorial Park, Reading.
