Kenneth P. Richmond

August 23, 1925 — April 4, 2011

Kenneth Richmond, age 85, of Wakefield, MA, son of Anna (Connor) and Harry Richmond, has died after a long battle with prostate cancer. He was the beloved husband of Linda (Dennis) and godfather of Nathaniel Watrous of Andover. Ken also is survived by Nathaniel's family: Dr. Bruce Watrous; Coleen Watrous; Lillian Gallagher; and Fred, Andrew, Patrick, Sam, and David Watrous. Ken also cherished his cousin Richard McLernon of Centre Harbor, NH and grand nephew Matthew Leonard of Danville, NH, as well as his friends Walter and Shirley Harrington of Wakefield, MA; Roger and Beverly Conant of Naples, FL; Dr. David Ticchi of Cambridge, MA; George and Mary Downing of Quincy, MA; Dr. John Mudrock of Winchester MA; and Nick and Marianne Spinelli of Wells, ME. Ken served in WWII, attended Boston College, and was president of the Harry Richmond Co., Cambridge, for over 40 years. His lifelong enthusiasm for the stock market attracted him to stockbroker Linda 23 years ago. They married in 1992 and continued to share this passion, along with trips to their adored coastal Maine, especially Stage Neck Inn, York Harbor, and White Barn Inn, Kennebunkport. He was a member of the Boston Yacht Club but enjoyed college football games as much as he did the ocean. In lieu of flowers, donations could be sent to Hospice of the North Shore in Danvers, MA, whose wonderful staff helped Ken to live at home in comfort. After languishing in hospitals for 6 weeks with a terminal illness and no hope of a cure, in January he chose to come home, where he lived joyfully for nearly 3 months. He remained remarkably active until his last 2 days and departed this life in his own bed, comforted by those he loved most. His generosity, vibrant personality, and unique sense of humor will be missed by all who knew him. A Funeral service Celebrating Kenneth's Life will be held in the Chapel of the Barile Family Home 482 Main St. (RT28) STONEHAM Saturday at 10:00 a.m. Interment with Military Honors will be held in Lakeside Cemetery, Wakefield.
