Lauren Beth Piraino August 28,1970-December 17,2024 On December 17, Lauren Beth Piraino of Woburn passed away unexpectedly surrounded by her loving family due to complications of Diabetes. After a brief and courageous fight, her body succumbed to the illness. Lauren was born in Cambridge to Muriel L. Piraino(Hickey) and Anthony J. Piraino Jr. and was raised in Lexington, Ma. After graduating from Lexington High in 1988, she briefly resided in Seabrook Island,SC along with her family, only to return shortly thereafter to her beloved New England. Lauren then went on to meet and marry her husband Stephen to whom she shared 23 years of marriage. She was blessed later in life with the birth of her son, AJ, her miracle child and pride and joy. Lauren worked tirelessly as a human rights advocate and activist, and was the President and Founder of We Unite. She proudly carried on her mother's and aunt's legacy of fighting for the equal rights of women. She also volunteered a considerable amount of her time to raising funds for natural disaster relief, while overseeing and expediting critical life saving supplies. She was briefly a special advisor to the Commissioner of the administration on disabilities(ACL). She was honored and proud to be a part of something so near and dear to her. She was passionate about making the world a safer and more inclusive place for all and had no tolerance for discrimination of any kind. She maintained special and deep connections with many throughout her life and cherished her lifelong friendships. She was a caring, compassionate and intelligent woman who touched so many lives. She extended a helping hand to anyone in need. She was fiercely loyal and protective of her family and friends. She had a big personality, a great sense of humor and a contagious laugh. She will be deeply missed, fondly remembered, and forever in our hearts and minds. She was predeceased by her mother Muriel Piraino (Hickey) and father Anthony J. Piraino Jr. as well as many dear departed loved ones. She is survived by her husband Stephen Zahar and son Anthony Joseph Zahar(AJ), her beloved rescue dog Lexi, her sister Leslie Piraino Schrafft, nephews Kyle Schrafft, Cameron Schrafft, Colin Schrafft, niece Amanda Meuse and great nephew Noah Meuse, her Uncle Paul Piraino and many treasured cousins and friends. Services will be held on Saturday, January 11th Cota Funeral Home 335 Park St North Reading, Ma. Calling hours are from 1pm-3pm We invite family and friends to join us for a Celebration of life immediately following at Saint Anthony Club 1020 Main St. Woburn, Ma. In lieu of flowers please consider donating to The Global fund for Women or a charity of your choice.
