Lawrence J. Trevor passed away on March 1, 2021, at the age of 84, at home surrounded by his loving family after a long and courageous fight against cancer. Larry was the beloved husband and best friend to his wife Kathy (Evans) Trevor. They were married for 55 years. He was the proud father of his 4 children, Michael Trevor, Brian Trevor and his wife Jen, Nancy Drees, and Kristen Corso and her husband Dave. Larry was the loving grandfather to his 7 grandchildren Kelsey, Devin, Danielle, Jack, Alyssa, Ashlyn, and Kevin. He is also survived by his loving dog-companion Lola, who always enjoyed spending time on her Dad's lap.
Larry was born in East Boston and a longtime resident of Stoneham. He truly was a self-made man and the first in his family to attend college. While working various jobs he attended college at night and worked hard to earn his undergraduate degree at Bentley and then his master's degree at Suffolk. He worked the majority of his successful career at Polaroid in Cambridge, Massachusetts. After retirement he enjoyed his free time but always enjoyed having a part time job to fill some of his time.
Larry was a family man and over the years his constant pride and joy truly came from watching his kids grow up and becoming the men and women they are today. As a father he made it a top priority to be at all of his children's sporting events and dance recitals. As a grandfather he frequently talked about how fantastic, smart, and loving his grandchildren were. Larry reveled in each grandchilds' achievement.
As a father he invented the Mystery Ride. On these Mystery Rides the family would hop into the old station wagon, Larry behind the wheel, kids in the back, and head out to a surprise location. The mystery location sometimes included a unique destination, some food, or just a drive to nowhere. No matter it was family time and to this day a great Trevor family memory.
When his children were young, he volunteered as a coach and enjoyed working with the local youth teams. Larry enjoyed time golfing and cheering on the Boston sports teams. He was a Patriots season ticket holder for over 20 years and enjoyed attending games back in the day when they played at BU Field and Fenway Park and then in Foxboro. Larry was always a great fan of a wide variety of music (especially Jazz) and some of his favorites included Frank Sinatra, Ella Fitzgerald, and Nat King Cole. Larry and Kathy enjoyed their time together whether it be traveling (with their annual Las Vegas trip), going to see a show, dining out at a new restaurant or their go to (The 1640 House).
He had a great sense of humor and enjoyed telling a story (or two). Although his body was failing in the last months, his razor sharp memory never did. Although the last 4 years had their health challenges, Larry enjoyed happy times with his family. This past Christmas was incredibly special with Larry, Kathy, the kids, and grandkids having one last chance to all be together and celebrate. On the car ride home from the Christmas celebration he was talking about what a fun time it was, how great his grandkids were, and how lucky he was.
