Lena Rose (Bonasera) Landers Savard

On Saturday January 16, 2021, Lena Rose (Bonasera) Landers Savard, loving mother of three children, passed away from complications due to covid.
Lena was born August 9, 1930 in the west end of Boston. Her family moved to Medford at 14 and she graduated from Medford High School with the class of 1948. In 1952, Lena married Francis "Buddy" J. Landers and they settled in Stoneham where Lena was a resident for 63 years. Buddy passed away in 1957 before their third child was born and Lena devoted her next 15 years to raising her children alone. In 1972, Lena married her loving husband George Savard Jr and had many happy years together until George died suddenly in 1987.
Lena worked for the Town of Stoneham in the Town Clerk office for over 24 years, retiring in 1994. After retirement, Lena enjoyed spending time with her family, enjoying time with friends and volunteering. She spent time at the senior center enjoying exercise classes, crafts and numerous social occasions and trips. Lena was known for her warm and welcoming ways and her love of cooking. She was a member of the Friends of Stoneham Library, the 60 plus club and the Stoneham Arts and Crafts Society.
Lena is the beloved wife of the late Francis "Buddy" Landers and the late George N. Savard, Jr. She is the devoted mother of Frank Landers and his partner Joanne, Mark Steven Landers and his wife Clare and the late Bobby Landers. The cherished grandmother of Francis Landers and his wife Kim, Michael Landers and his wife Julianne, Mark Landers Jr, Kristen Adams and her husband Timothy, Lena is the doting great grandmother of Michael, Nicholas, James, Emily, Joshua, Gavin and Kennedy. She is the loving daughter of the late Frank Bonasera and Ida (Zanelli) Bonasera and the dear sister of Mary Pingiaro and her husband Anthony and the late Madeline Smoot. Lena is the adoring aunt of Ann Marie Dello Iacono, Linda Pingiaro and the late Anthony Pingiaro. She is also lovingly survived by several additional nieces and nephews.
Lena spent her last years at Warde Health Center in Windham, New Hampshire where she was lovingly cared for.
A Funeral Mass Celebrating Lena's Eternal Life will be held on Thursday, January 28th at 10am in St. Patrick Church, 71 Central St. STONEHAM. PLEASE GO DIRECTLY TO CHURCH.
