IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Leonard "Leo"
Marino
December 27, 1954 – January 7, 2021
Marino, Leonard "Leo" of Lynnfield passed away at the age of 66 on January 7th with his family by his side. Beloved husband of Linda (Marshall). Loving Father of Anthony, Christopher, Andrea and Victoria Marino. Adored son of the late Antonio Marino and Francesca (Scimemi). Cherished nephew of Paolo Scimemi and Libby Scimemi.
Leo and his parents immigrated to America in 1955 from Salemi, Sicily on the SS Andrea Doria. He lived in East Boston up to the age of 12 and from there he moved to Chelsea where he met his adoring wife Linda with whom he just shared his 43rd wedding anniversary. Leo earned his Bachelor's and Master's degrees in Civil Engineering from Northeastern University. He became a Licensed Professional Engineer and worked for HNTB Corporation for 42 years where he eventually rose to the position of Associate Vice President. In that time, he also spent 7 years as an Adjunct Professor at Wentworth Institute of Technology.
Leo was passionate about his career, but also found great joy in many of life's simple pleasures. He was a great cook, devout Catholic, proud Sicilian, animal lover, travel enthusiast, and continuously looked to check items off of his bucket list - most recently participating in the 2020 Polar Plunge. Above all, Leo cherished his family and loved spending time with them. He was able to fulfill his dream of bringing his wife and children to his birthplace in Sicily and reconnect with his many cousins there. Despite the distance, Leo continued to stay connected to his family in Sicily through weekly calls. Although Leo was healthy, abided by guidelines and trusted the science, he still contracted COVID-19. After a hard fought battle, Leo ultimately passed away due to complications related to the virus. He will be missed by all who knew and loved him.
