Lewis F. White died peacefully in his home in Reading on January 30 at the age of 84 surrounded by his wife and children.
Lewis was the son of Lewis and Dorothy (Jamieson) White and was born and raised in Medford, Massachusetts.
Lewis attended Parochial School in Medford, Massachusetts and was a graduate Malden Catholic High School in Malden Massachusetts, Class of 1948. Lewis was a proud graduate of Northeastern University where he earned his Bachelors Degree.
Lewis was in the Army stationed in Augsburg Germany from 1952 to 1954. Lewis worked for 43 years as a Sales Representative for Liberty Mutual Insurance Co. He was a member of Reading American Legion Post 62 and Reading Knights of Columbus Council 1031.
Lewis is survived by his wife Mary whom he was married to for 62 years. He is the father of Gayle Gildea and her husband Louis, Gary White, Glenn White, Gregg White and his wife Constance, Gena Mapplethorpe and her husband James, Jane Dixon, Karen Lenox and her husband Robert and Kristin Dooley. Lewis is the cherished grandfather of Kelly, Michael, Joseph, Joshua, Justin, Brittany, Dylan, Sean, Michael, Eric, Alison, Olivia, Drew, Haley, Carolyn, Brynn, Robert, Carly, Jillian, David and Ryan. He was the loving great grandfather of Michael, Jack and Abigail. The dear brother of the late Daniel Daley and his wife Rita, Lewis is the brother in law of Paul Benson and his wife Joan. He is also survived by many loving cousins.
Some of Lew's fondest memories are of spending summers with his wife and family vacationing at Goose Rocks Beach in Kennebunkport, Maine.
Funeral from the Doherty – Barile Family Funeral Home, 11 Linden St. READING Thursday, February 5, 2015 at 9:30am followed by a Funeral Mass Celebrating Lewis' Eternal Life in St. Agnes Church, 186 Woburn St. Reading at 10:30am. Family and friends are cordially invited to gather and share remembrances with the Family on Wednesday, February 4, 2015 from 3-8pm in the Funeral Home. Parking attendants and ramped entrance are available. Interment with Military Honors will take place at Forest Glen Cemetery, Reading.
