Loretta C. (Marks) Simmons

Loretta C. (Marks) Simmons of Stoneham passed away unexpectedly on Thursday, July 30th, 2026. She is 91 years of age.

Born on Sunday, July 21, 1935 in Boston, Loretta is the loving daughter of the late Eugene Marks and the late Mildred (Williams) Marks, and her adoptive father the late Leo J Marks Sr and her adoptive mother the late Stella (Vaughn) Marks.

Loretta is the beloved wife of the late Robert Winton and the late Raymond Simmons. Loretta is the much-loved sister of the late Leo J. Marks, Jr., the late Richard Marks, and the late Janet A. Roberts. She is the treasured Aunt to Barry Marks, the late Melissa Marks, the late Victoria Marks, the late Charles Marks, Richard Marks, Tracy (Marks) Shuttleworth, Francis Roberts, Richard Roberts, the late Joanne Roberts, and Lisa (Roberts) Costa as well as many grandnieces, grandnephews, great grandniece and great grandnephew.

Loretta was a graduate of Stoneham High School in 1954 and entered the work force. She worked several jobs over her lifetime but the one job she cherished the most was being a caregiver to her family. At every baptism, communion, wedding, Holiday, barbeque, sickness, and passing of loved ones before her; Loretta was always there to comfort her family. Known only as “Auntie”, she was there.

When Loretta was not taking care of her family, she was taking care of her friends. She could often be found holding a table at the local Burger King for her and her friends to enjoy laughs, and sometimes tears.

Loretta is the last of a generation in her family and she will be very deeply missed by all.

Family and friends are cordially invited to gather and share memories with Loretta’s Family on Tuesday, August 4th from 11am – 1pm in the Barile – Cota Family Funeral Home, 335 Park Street (corner of Park Street & RT 28), NORTH READING at Reading line.

A Funeral Service Celebrating Loretta’s will be held on Tuesday, August 4th at 1pm in the Funeral Home.
