Lorraine A. (Uvello) McCauley

Lorraine Ann (Uvello) McCauley, of Stoneham, Massachusetts, passed away peacefully on September 14, 2026, at the age of 92.

Born on January 4, 1934, Lorraine grew up in Medford in a home filled with family. Her parents, grandparents, aunts, uncles, and brother all lived together under one roof. From an early age, family was a big part of Lorraine’s life, and it remained that way throughout her years.

Lorraine graduated from Medford High School and went on to Boston University, graduating shortly after high school. She was proud of her education and the path she made for herself, especially at a time when fewer women went on to college.

Lorraine was also a survivor of three different kinds of breast cancer. Through each diagnosis and treatment, she faced the experience with courage and determination. Her strength was a meaningful part of her story and reflected the resilience she carried throughout her life.

Lorraine was the beloved wife of the late Fred McCauley Jr. She was the devoted mother of Janet and her partner Rich, Joanne and her late husband Bobby, Paul and his wife Robin, and Jill and her husband Billy.

She was the cherished grandmother of James, Julie, Jeff, Paige, Dylan, Justin, Callie, and the late Jake. She was also a loving great-grandmother to Ted, Betty, Thomas, the late Liam, Lindsay, Andy, and Reese.

Lorraine was happiest when she was with her family. She loved the holidays and looked forward to any chance to have everyone together. Family gatherings, big or small, meant a lot to her.

Lorraine also showed her love through food. She cooked a mean chicken and eggplant parmesan, and her recipes remain unmatched. She enjoyed trips to Wilson’s Farm, where she loved browsing the fresh produce and picking up something special to bring home. Around Thanksgiving, she could often be found whipping up an apple pie for the family to enjoy. She loved an iced coffee with cream and extra sugar and an ice-cold watermelon popsicle. She also enjoyed settling in to watch a good movie, especially when she could share the time with someone she loved.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Lorraine’s memory to the Breast Cancer Research Foundation, in support of breast cancer research.

A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Thursday, September 24, 2026, at 10 am in St. Patrick’s Church in Stoneham, Massachusetts. Burial at Oak Grove cemetery in Medford will follow.
