Marcia Anne Muir of Somerville, formally of Melrose and Stoneham Massachusetts passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday, February 11, 2025. She was 67 years old.
Marcia was born on March 24, 1957 to Roger and Marguerite Muir. After Marcia graduated from Stoneham high school she went on to study music education at Salem State College in 1979. Several years after her graduation, Marcia started a job at the Archdiocese of Boston and served as the music director at St. Patrick’s Parish in Stoneham, Massachusetts for 24 years. After retiring from directing at the church, she continued to bless others with her musical gifts by directing and performing in many holiday programs at the VNA senior living community.
Music was a defining part of Marcia‘s life and friends would call her “Marcia Music.” She had an incredible gift for singing, could play the guitar and piano beautifully, and had begun learning the violin. At one time she led the largest adult choir in Boston as well as children and young adult choirs. She coordinated and participated in a music and prayer ministry in prisons and nursing homes. Marcia loved the outdoors. She spent many happy summer vacations camping in Maine and New Hampshire with her beloved second family the Tarquinio’s. Later she enjoyed spending time in the garden near her apartment. She was an excellent cook and love to bless others with a delicious meal. She also would faithfully send cards to family and friends on every occasion with loving and encouraging messages.
Although Marcia struggled with multiple illnesses in her later years, she had an amazingly positive attitude. When asked how she could handle being sick so often, she would say, “There is always someone worse off than me.” She knew that Jesus loved her and she leaned into her faith in Him to carry her through the difficult times
Marcia was predeceased by her father Roger Muir, her mother Marguerite Muir (Piraino) and her sister Donna Muir. She is survived by her brother Roger Muir and his wife Laura Muir, her brother Mark Muir, her brother David Muir and his wife Terri Muir, her step-mother Mary Muir, her uncle Paul Piraino and many other beloved cousins, nieces, nephews and friends.
Visitation will be held on Friday March 28th from 10:00am to 12:00pm followed by a Celebration of Life at 12:00pm with words of remembrance and song at the Barile funeral home 482 Main St. Stoneham, MA.
