Margaret M. Cunniff

Margaret M. (Morgan) "Peg, Peggy" Cunniff, 87 of Stoneham and Kennebunkport, Maine, formerly of Medford passed away on Friday, February 18, 2011 at Wakefield Care & Rehab.





She was the wife of Joseph M. Cunniff Sr. for over 60 years. The mother of Marjorie A. Anderson of Littleton, Joan M. Hultgren of Westford, Joseph M. Jr. of Marblehead, Kevin F. of Groveland, Paul H. of Methuen and the late Elaine P. Cunniff. She is also the grandmother of 8 and great grandmother of 2. She was the sister of John E. Morgan and his wife Marion of Wakefield and Martin F. Morgan Jr. and his wife Barbara of Lewiston, Maine. She was also the sister of the late Elizabeth Logan, Helen Morgan and Kathleen McCone.





Born in Malden, the daughter of the late Martin F. and Elizabeth A. (Convery) Morgan. She was raised in the Wellington section of Medford, where she attended local schools, graduating from Medford High School in the Class of 1941. She attended Lowell Teachers College (UMASS-Lowell) graduating in the Class of 1945. During her college years, she was very active in sports, playing four sports. In her senior year, she held the office off President of the Athletic Association.





Mrs. Cunniff began her teaching career in Malden, a year later she transferred to the Hillside School in Medford. She taught there until her marriage, at which time she transferred to Lexington. She taught at the Adams School there until she started her family. After fourteen years at home, she returned to teaching at the Brooks School in West Medford where she taught until her retirement in 1987.





She loved to travel and went to Europe six times and visited the islands of Bermuda, St. Martins and Aruba several times. She did not neglect the United States and Canada in her travels.





Funeral from the Barile Family Funeral Home, 482 Main St. (RT 28) STONEHAM Tuesday at 10am followed by a Funeral Mass celebrating Margaret's Eternal Life in St. Patrick Church, 71 Central St. at 11am. Family and friends are cordially invited to gather and share remembrances with the Family on Monday from 3-8pm in the Funeral Home. Interment Oak Grove Cemetery, Medford.
