IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Margaret J.
(Horn) Coates
September 20, 1933 – September 28, 2021
Coates, Margaret J. (Horn) -Of Reading, Sept. 28th. Beloved wife of the late John Coates. Mother of Suzanne Fabiano and her husband Matthew of NH, Janice Quattrocchi and her husband Daniel of Billerica and the Rita and David Coates Sr. Grandmother of Matthew, David Jr., Alexandra, Jessica, Nathan, Nicholas, Luke, Hannah,Benjamin and Samuel. Sister of the late Anna Horn, John Horn, Alice McNamara, Joseph Horn and Bernard Horn Sr, Margaret is also survived by many loving nieces, nephews and extended family.
Margaret was known as Peggy to family & friends. She always talked fondly of memories she had growing up in Malden, and being the baby of six. After graduating from high school she got a job working at a bank in the foreign department in Boston. She loved to watch the Red Sox with her dad. She loved music and dancing, when she was a young lady she went to USO dances, where she met her husband John. Together they bought land and built a home and filled it with four children. She was a stay at home mom for years. Once the kids were all in school, she worked as a Home and Health Aid. She was always making a "little extra" when she cooked, that way she always had some to bring to someone who was sick. She was always trying to help people out that way.
In her later years she loved going to plays and shows with her friends, she also enjoyed going out to lunch with friends to catch up. She was lucky to still keep in touch with friends she knew for over 80 years. She was thankful to have taken a couple vacations that allowed her to do some traveling with friends and family. She loved going to Ireland, which was where her mother was from, and seeing where she grew up. It meant a lot to her. She also loved the cruise in Hawaii that she went on with her daughter Janice and her family. Her true pride and joy of her life was having grandchildren. She loved to spoil them rotten. Throughout her life her faith was a constant. She attended daily mass and was always praying for people. She was always so giving and kind and would do whatever she could to help family and friends. May her prayers from heaven, continue for all that knew her.
