Margaret M. Whalen

March 10, 1922 — October 4, 2005

Margaret M. "Peg" (Lynch) Whalen of Reading, formerly of Somerville passed away on Tuesday, October 4, 2005 at Woodbriar Nursing Home in Wilmington. She was 83 years of age.





Born in Cork, Ireland, Margaret was the beloved daughter of the late Daniel Lynch and Elizabeth (Lawlor) Lynch. Margaret was a warm and caring daughter, sister, wife, aunt and friend. She will be missed by all.





Peg worked for the Town of Reading for many years. She was a Reading resident for over 50 years. She volunteered at The Sojourn House in Roxbury. Peg taught C.C.D. at St. Agnes Church. She served on many committees at St. Agnes including the Chairwoman of the Peace and Justice Committee. Peg had many, many friends at St. Agnes Church.





Peg was the beloved wife of the late Joseph Whalen. She was the dear sister of Sr. Ann Lynch, SND of Wakefield and the late Richard and Teresa Lynch. Peg was also survived by several nieces, nephews and dear friends.





Funeral from the Joseph Doherty - Barile Family Funeral Home 11 Linden St. READING Friday at 8 am followed by a Funeral Mass celebrating Margaret's life in St. Agnes Church, 186 Woburn St. Reading at 9 am. Family and friends are kindly invited to attend Visiting Hours Thursday 4-8 pm. Parking is available in the municipal parking lot located behind Atlantic Supermarket on Haven St. Interment Puritan Lawn Memorial Park, W. Peabody.
