Marguerite Ann (Whelan) Scannell of Gulfport, Florida, formerly of Stoneham & Charlestown passed away on Sunday, October 29, 2023. She is 81 years of age.
Born on Thursday, January 29, 1942 in Boston, Marguerite is the loving daughter of the late Edward L. Whelan and Kathleen (Maher) Whelan.
Margo, as she was known by her family and friends, was a mother to all who knew her. She was always the life of the party. Margo loved dressing up and having a great time. The most thoughtful person anyone would know. Margo always remembered your birthday, anniversary or any special occasion. She would have a special card or gift that was well thought out. Always rooting for the underdog and always there to help you out of whatever bind you were in. She lived with great purpose and grace. There will be a large void left in many of our lives, however, her legacy will continue to impact many generations to come.
Marguerite is the beloved wife of the late Dennis F. Scannell Jr. She is the devoted mother of Deborah O’Neil and her husband John, Jean Brian and her husband Ron, John Scannell and his girlfriend Shaowen Chou and Dennis Scannell and his girlfriend Laura Almeida and the late Robert Scannell. The cherished grandmother of Zachary Brian and his wife Kelly, Victoria Brian, Isabella Scannell and her fiancé Kyle Lussier, Ryan O’Neil, Dennis Scannell, Shayne O’Neil, and the late Anne Elizabeth O’Neil. Marguerite is the dear sister of Edward Whelan and his wife Carol, Kathleen “Cookie” Giordano and Andrew Whelan. She is the loving sister-in-law of Beth McLaughlin and Kathy Benner.
