Maria (Cioffi) Melanson

Maria (Cioffi) Melanson of Somerville passed away on Tuesday, May 6, 2014 at Lighthouse Nursing Care Center in Revere. She was 51 years of age.

Born in Winthrop on January 15, 1963, Maria was the daughter of the late Sabino and Carmella (Falardo) Cioffi. Maria was a warm and caring daughter, wife, mother, cousin, niece, sister, in-law and friend. She will be missed by all who knew her.

Maria grew up in Somerville. She was proud of her Italian heritage. She attended St. Polycarp's Elementary School and Somerville High School. Maria married the love of her life in 1991 and seven years later they completed their family with the birth of their daughter, Miranda.

Maria was the beloved wife of James Melanson. She was the loving and devoted mother of Miranda Melanson. Maria was the dear sister of Carmen Cioffi. She is also survived by many loving aunts, uncles, cousins, in-laws, friends and her beloved cat Fleabag.

A Funeral Service celebrating Maria's Life will be held on Tuesday, May 13, 2014 at 5:30 pm in the Barile Family Funeral Home, 482 Main Street, Stoneham. Family and friends are cordially invited to gather and share remembrances with the Family prior to the Service beginning at 2 pm. Parking attendants and handicapped elevator are available.
