Marie T. (Murphy) Lewis passed away peacefully on Saturday, October 16 surrounded by her family, at home.





Marie was born in Boston on December 23, 1932. She graduated from South Boston high School. Marie was the daughter of James Murphy and Mary (Powers) Murphy. For many years she worked for the John Hancock, in Boston retiring from US Trust Bank in Boston.





Marie was married to the late John A. Lewis Jr. for 48 years. Her primary focus in life was her family, especially her 8 grandchildren. Marie was a dedicated homemaker. Her family was first and foremost in her life. Marie's love for children and grandchildren went unparalleled. Marie was the devoted mother of Terri Orsillo and her husband Vincent of Haverhill, Patricia Alongi and her husband Robert of Wakefield and Karen Safina and her husband Nick of Reading. She was the cherished grandmother of Vinny, Angela and John Orsillo, Jacqueline, Robert and Jennifer Alongi and Nicholas and Victoria Safina. Marie was the dear sister of Francis Murphy of Marblehead and the late James Murphy. She was also survived by many loving nieces and nephews. Marie was the loving niece of Josephine Fall of Milton. Marie was a loving and caring daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother, aunt and friend. She will be deeply missed.





Funeral from the Barile Family Funeral Home, 482 Main St. (RT 28) STONEHAM Wednesday at 9am followed by a Funeral Mass celebrating Marie's life in St. Patrick's Church, 71 Central St. Stoneham at 10am. Family and friends are cordially invited to gather and share remembrances with the Family on Tuesday from 4-8pm in the Funeral Home. Parking attendants will be available. Interment Lindenwood Cemetery, Stoneham.
