Marilyn C. (Galasso) Diliberto of Stoneham passed away on Saturday, January 10, 2026. She is 92 years of age.
Born on Wednesday, June 7, 1933 in Boston, Marilyn is the loving daughter of the late William Galasso and Mathilde (Pettinati) Galasso. Marilyn is a warm, kind, gentle and loyal daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, aunt and friend.
Marilyn had a vibrant youth. She was an avid swimmer who was a lifeguard and trained to swim the English Channel. An artistic spirit, she took up the accordion and played Italian Tarantala’s and Polish Polkas. After graduating high school in 1951 from Newton High School, she went to secretarial school, ultimately becoming an in demand executive secretary. Her final job was as executive secretary for Dr. Abram Leon Sachar, chancellor emeritus of Brandeis University. Freed from work she spent the best years of her life traveling across North America in an RV with Jack. Marilyn was a phenomenal cook and besides all her Italian dishes, she was best known for her Congo bars.
Marilyn is the beloved wife of the late John K. Diliberto. She is the devoted mother of John K. Diliberto Jr. and his wife Melissa Higgins, Valerie J. Snyder and Richard A. “Ricky” Diliberto and his wife Cindy. The cherished grandmother of Erica T. Mitchell, Fawn M. Sarbanis, Jack H. Diliberto, Ariel G. Diliberto, Angela S. Diliberto, Grace A. Diliberto and her husband Seth Sobotka, Marilyn is the doting great grandmother of Darren Hall, J’nya Jaquez, Makayla Sarbanis and Xavean Mitchell and great, great grandmother to Jahre. She is the dear sister of Joan Goodwin and the late William Galasso. Marilyn is also lovingly survived by many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends who will truly miss her.
Family and friends are cordially invited to attend a Funeral Mass Celebrating Marilyn’s Eternal Life will be held on Tuesday, January 27th at 10am in Saint Patrick Church, 71 Central Street Stoneham.
