Mark Sullivan Sommers

Mark S. Sommers, of Dorchester, passed away on August 19, 2019. He was 65 years of age.

Born in Quincy, Mark was the beloved son of the late William Sommers and Luthera (Hunt) Sommers.

Mark loved to travel. He was an avid sports fan who loved all his Boston sports teams. He enjoyed food shopping at Haymarket in Boston, eating Italian food in the North End and attending Mass at St. Anthony Shrine. Upon completion of high school at Austin Prep in Reading, Mark served in the United States Navy. Mark was an employee in the U.S. Post Office in Boston for over 30 years. He will be missed by all who knew him.

Mark is the loving brother of Mary Sommers and her husband Steven Palmer, Barbara Sommers, Brian Sommers and his wife Patricia, and Ann Whelan and her husband Robert. Cherished uncle of John Hinch and wife Laura, Christine Hinch, Megan Sommers, Patrick Whelan, Katelyn Sommers, Liam Whelan and Alison Sommers. Great uncle of Vittoria and Helena Hinch. Dear boyfriend of Mary Cove.

Relatives and friends are kindly invited to gather and share memories with the family in the Doherty Barile Family Funeral Home 11 Linden St. READING on Thursday August 22, 2019 from 4 pm to 7 pm. Parking attendants and elevator available.

A Funeral Service Celebrating Mark's Eternal Life will be held on Friday August 23, 2019 at 10 am in the funeral home. Interment Laurel Hill Cemetery, Reading.
