Martin J. "Marty" Foley

Martin J. “Marty” Foley of Quincy passed away on Saturday, September 26th , 2026 with his loving daughter by his side. He is 88 years of age.

Born on Sunday, February 6th, 1938 in South Boston, Marty is the loving son of the late Thomas Foley and Sabina (King) Foley. Marty is a warm, gentle, kind & loyal son, brother, father, uncle and friend who will be truly missed.

Marty will be remembered for his gentle nature, unfailing patience, and the joy he found in everyday life. At the heart of his world were his wife, Kathy, with whom he shared 49 years of marriage and a love that remained tender and joyful to the very end, and his daughter, Sheila. A proud son of South Boston, he treasured family Sundays spent at Mass, Joseph’s Bakery, and Castle Island. He loved singing, Christmas gatherings, Boston Braves baseball, and Holy Cross football, and found tremendous happiness in coaching Sheila’s softball teams, continuing long after her playing days had ended. Whether telling bedtime stories, sharing a laugh, or sitting together admiring the Christmas tree, Marty made ordinary moments into lasting memories. His kindness, loyalty, humor, and wholehearted love for his family will remain with all who knew him.

Marty is the beloved husband of Kathleen (Jones) Foley. He is the devoted father of Sheila Foley and her husband Jeff Cullen. The dear brother of the late Jack Foley, the late Tom Foley and his late wife Loretta, the late Barbara O’Neill and her late husband Jim and the late Eddie Foley, Marty is lovingly survived by many nieces, nephews and friends who will deeply miss him.  The family extends heartfelt thanks to Peter, whose kindness and devoted care for Marty and Kathy have meant so much to them and their family.

Family and friends are cordially invited to gather and share memories with Marty’s Family on Friday, October 2nd from 4-7pm in the Barile Family Funeral Home, 482 Main Street (RT 28) STONEHAM. Parking attendants and elevator are available.

Funeral from the Barile Family Funeral Home, 482 Main Street (RT 28) STONEHAM on Saturday, October 3rd at 9am followed by a Funeral Mass Celebrating Marty’s Eternal Life in Saint Patrick Church, 71 Central Street Stoneham at 10am. Interment Saint Patrick’s Cemetery, Stoneham.
