Mary L. (Hartmere) Alberts of Reading, formerly of Winchester & Dedham passed away on Tuesday, March 22, 2022 at Care One Medical Center in Wilmington. She was 75 years of age.
Born on October 10, 1946 in Cambridge, Mary is the loving daughter of the late Charles Hartmere and Alice (Colbert) Hartmere. She grew up in Dedham and attended St. Mary's School, Ursuline Academy and Chandler Secretarial School.
Mary is the beloved wife of John Alberts and the devoted mother of John Alberts, Jr. "JJ" and his wife Karen, Tim Alberts and his wife Erin and Alison Ockerbloom. The cherished grandmother of Molly, Ashley and Ava Ockerbloom, Will and Sam Alberts, Patrick, Matthew and Christopher Alberts, she is the loving sister to Jane O'Connell and her husband Robert, Jon and Susan Hartmere and Judge Michael Hartmere. Mary is also lovingly survived by many nieces and nephews.
Mary was a warm and caring daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother, aunt and friend. She will be deeply missed by all who knew her. Mary exuded strength and perseverance throughout her life and that held true through the end of her life. She will be remembered for her witty humor, even in her times of suffering. She battled many forms of cancer during her lifetime, and fought courageously each time, always remaining devoted to her family. She always provided love and support for her family. She spent many decades on the sidelines, cheering on her children and grandchildren in all their sporting and dance events.
For the past seven years battling Multiple Myeloma, Mary never stopped fighting. No matter how sick she was, she was always determined. When anyone else would have broken, Mary stayed strong. Through her, we know what resilience and perseverance truly look like. All who knew her, loved and admired her.
The family will celebrate her life later this spring, when all her cherished grandchildren will be home to honor her.
In lieu of flowers, please consider making donations in Mary's memory to The Multiple Myeloma Research Foundation, P.O. Box 414238, Boston, MA 02241-4238.
