Mary Frances (Brown) Brady

April 2, 1921 — March 2, 2014

Mary Frances Brady died at 92 years old at Sawtelle Family Hospice House of Reading. She passed away peacefully on Sunday, March 2, 2014.

She was born in Dorchester to the late Michael C. and Nora M. (Kelliher) Brown. She attended St. Gregory's School, Dorchester and was a graduate of St. Gregory's HS, class of 1938. She graduated from Salem State College, class of 1942, with a BA degree in Education for Commercial Business. She briefly taught high school commercial business classes in Deep River, Connecticut, followed by several years in the private sector at Buck Printing Company, Boston, MA.

She was the beloved wife of the late John J. Brady with whom she shared 49 years of marriage. They settled in Reading to raise their four children and has been a resident of Reading for the past 55 years. She returned to teaching for several years as a third grade teacher at both St. Agnes Parochial School in Reading and the Woburn Street School in Wilmington until her retirement in the early 1970's. After retirement she volunteered for over 15 years at the Council on Aging in Reading and was an active member of the Reading College Club as a board member and attendee for many years until it was dissolved in 2012.

Mary enjoyed reading, gardening, sewing and knitting. Most of all, she enjoyed the loving relationships she shared with family and friends, all of whom will miss her very much. She was a devoted mother and loving grandmother and spent much of her time in her later years with her grandchildren. She was an inspiration to all who met her and had an upbeat outlook on life until the very end.

She is survived by her sons: Thomas Brady and his wife Peggy-Jo; James Brady and his wife Julie and survived by her daughters: Kathleen Brady-Gill and her husband Edward Gill, Jean Brady and her husband Nilesh Shah. She is survived by 10 grandchildren: Patricia Brady, Warren Brady, John Brady, Patrick Brady, John Gill, Mary Gill, James Gill, Julie Gill, Andrew Shah and Jennifer Shah and 2 great grandsons, Hayden and Joshua. She is also survived by her three siblings Richard and the late Joan Brown, Margaret (Brown) and the late George Willis and Edmund and Dorothy Brown and many loving nieces and nephews.

Funeral from the Doherty –Barile Family Funeral Home, 11 Linden St. READING Friday, March 7, 2014 at 9:30am followed by a Funeral Mass celebrating Mary's Eternal Life in St. Agnes Church, 186 Woburn St. Reading at 10:30am. Family and friends are cordially invited to gather and share remembrances with the Family on Thursday, March 6, 2014 from 3-7 pm in the Funeral Home. Parking attendants and handicapped entrance are available. Interment Charles Lawn Cemetery, Reading.
