Mary "Madeline" (Carroll) Breen of Stoneham, age 96, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, June 15, 2016 at Bear Hill Rehabilitation and Nursing Center in Reading.
Born on November 25, 1919 in Medford, Massachusetts, Mary was the loving daughter of the late Thomas Carroll and Marquerite (Ashe) Carroll. Mary was a warm and caring wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and sister. She will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
Mary proudly served the United States Navy as a Seaman First Class until 1945 along with her husband and brother. Once being honorably discharged from the Navy, Mary focused on her family and career in Stoneham. Mary worked as a telephone operator for New England Telephone.
Mary was the beloved wife of the late Raymond Breen. Cherished mother of the late Barbara Pollack and her surviving husband William of Stoneham, William Breen and his wife Denise of Stoneham, Robert Breen and his wife Jennifer of Walpole and Joanne Martelli and her late husband Donald Martelli of Stoneham. Mary was the caring sister of the late Thomas Carroll and his surviving wife Theresa of Somerville, the late Joseph Carroll and his surviving wife Jeannette of Stoneham, William Carroll and his wife Angela of Quincy, Rita Newitt and her husband Carl of Stoneham, the late Paul Carroll and his surviving wife Maryanne of Salem, New Hampshire, the late Catherine Carroll and the late Anna Carroll. She will be missed dearly by her fifteen grandchildren and twelve great-grandchildren and especially by her best buddies Bella and Timmy, the dogs.
A Funeral from the Barile Family Funeral Home, 482 Main St. (RT 28) STONEHAM Monday, June 20th at 9am followed by a Funeral Mass Celebrating Mary's Eternal Life in St. Patrick Church, 71 Central St. Stoneham at 10am. Family and friends are cordially invited to gather and share memories with the Family on Sunday, June 19th from 4-7pm in the Funeral Home. Parking attendants and elevator are available. Interment Saint Patrick's Cemetery, Stoneham.
