Mary Agnes Frances (nee) Hurley Good of Reading, passed away peacefully in her 96th year, April 8, 2016.
Mary was the beloved wife of the late Paul A.C. Good. She was the devoted mother of Ellen C. Good, Anne B. Good, Paul D. Good and his late wife Anne, Mary Linda Krikorian, Thomas J. Good and his wife Rhonda and Gretchen Good Maguire. The cherished grandmother of Jennifer Good, Joshua Good and his wife Danielle, Thomas Good, Conor Good, Jack Good, Madison Maguire and Allison Krikorian, Mary was the dear sister of the late Bob, John, Ed and Tom Hurley. She was the loving daughter of the late Daniel Hurley and Mary (Murphy) Hurley and the loving Auntie Sis of many nieces and nephews.
Born in Wollaston and raised in West Newton, Mary received her undergraduate degree from Regis College and completed her graduate studies at B.U. and NYU.
Her prolific professional career spanned years traveling for Vogue Magazine, representing Filene's and Grover Cronin as assistant buyer, fashion and program director, holding teaching positions at Regis College, Simmons College, Lasalle Junior College, Mount Ida College, Aquinas, Chamberlain, Saugus High School, Whittier Regional Technical, and consulting with the American Wool Council. In addition, she was a member of the Boston Fashion Group and collaborated with the Academie Moderne and with local fashion designers, most notably Alfred Fiandaca.
Mary's love of her alma mater was evidenced by her life-long commitment to Regis' alumni organization. She was the only member to serve 2 terms as Regis' alumni president.
A long-time resident of Reading, Mary was a devoted and active member of her community. As a St. Agnes congregant, she participated in many church programs, as a Pre-Cana instructor, ARISE program leader and lectored for many years.
For most of Mary's life, she volunteered her time to support numerous causes and programs, such as Angel Flight, (RIF)-Reading is Fundamental, America Heart Association, Reading Senior Center, Reading Garden Club, Girls Scouts of America and the Reading Little League Guild.
Mary's boundless energy, extraordinary sense of style and deep love of faith, family and friends will always be remembered and deeply missed.
Funeral from the Doherty – Barile Family Funeral Home, 11 Linden St. READING. Thursday, April 14th at 9am followed by a Funeral Mass Celebrating Mary's Eternal Life in St. Agnes Church, 186 Woburn St. Reading at 10am. Family and friends are cordially invited to gather and share memories with the Family on Wednesday, April 13th from 4-8pm in the Funeral Home. Parking attendants and ramped entrance are available. Interment Highland Cemetery, Norwood.
