Mary "Charlotte" (Higgins) Holbrook passed away on Saturday, April 14, 2012 at Parkland Medical Center in Derry, New Hampshire. She was 90 years of age.





Born and raised in North Dighton and Taunton, MA, she graduated from Mass Memorial Nursing School and worked as a nurse in numerous medical facilities, including her specialty of Nurse Anesthetist. After meeting and marrying her photographer husband, Harry T. Holbrook, who started the Boston Globe's Color Lab, she retired to raise their 6 children.





She founded the choir for St. Athanasius Church in Reading, MA, not only serving as Choir Director, but arranging elaborate renditions of music. She was an active member of The Quannapowitt Players, a local theatre group in Wakefield, MA, and she sang and arranged music for a local singing group. She was an avid bridge player and accomplished horsewoman and in later years became the family historian, tracing the geneology for her family, her children's, their spouses; and all her sisters and their spouses.





For the years preceding their retirement to Arizona, she worked in the Reservations Department for Air New England; and with her constantly friendly and ebullient personality, became long-time friends with many of her clients.





For most of the last 30 years, she has resided in Brunswick, GA, devoting many years to fundraising for Safe Harbor Children's Shelter.





Charlotte was the beloved wife of the late Harry T. Holbrook. She was the devoted mother of Charlotte Hunter and her late husband Dr. Conway Hunter of St. Simon Island, GA, Heidi Keegan of Boston, William Holbrook and his wife Lexa of Derry, NH, Mary Robin Loiselle and her husband John of Brunswick, GA, Todd Holbrook and his wife Lisa of Maine and the late Harry T. Holbrook III. Charlotte was the cherished grandmother of 10 and great grandmother of 2. Loving daughter of the late Thomas and Isabel (Wright) Higgins. She was the dear sister of Elaine Little and her late husband Kenneth of Reading, Kathleen Williams and her husband Thomas of Florida, Claire Bakon and her late husband Edward of Florida and Beth Shumway and her late husband Frank of RI.





Funeral from the Doherty - Barile Family Funeral Home 11 Linden St. READING Thursday at 9:30am followed by a Funeral Mass Celebrating Charlotte's Eternal Life in St. Athanasius Church 300 Haverhill St., Reading at 10:30am. Family and friends are cordially invited to gather and share remembrances with the Family on Wednesday from 4-8 pm in the Funeral Home. Parking attendants will be available. Interment Puritan Lawn Memorial Park, Peabody.
