Mary E. (O'Leary) Lynch

Mrs. Mary E. (O’Leary) Lynch of Stoneham, passed away on Sunday, October 23, 2022, at home with her family by her side. She was 72.

Mary was born in Winchester on November 18, 1949 and is the daughter of the late Spencer and M. Rita (Connolly) O’Leary. She was raised in Belmont and was a graduate of Holy Cross Academy in Brookline and earned her Bachelor’s degree from Boston State Teachers College and later her Master’s degree from Cambridge College. 

Mary married Charles J. Lynch on June 24, 1973, in Saint Joseph’s Church in Belmont. They lived a short while in Arlington before making Stoneham their home in 1976.

She was a special education teacher for the Town of Stoneham at Central Grammar School for over 13 years before retiring in 2013. 

Shortly after her retirement, Mary was diagnosed with Frontotemporal Dementia but with grace and faith, and the love of a wonderful family and devoted caregiver, Charlie she met each day with patience.

A faithful communicant of Saint Patrick’s Church, she was a familiar face at its 4 pm Saturday vigil each week. She loved making her house a home and tending to her gardens. A fantastic sense of humor and quick wit Mary loved her many friendships and times out with family and friends. 

Mary is the beloved wife of 49 years to Charlie J. Lynch. She is the devoted mother of Lt. Col Michael J. Lynch (USAF) and his wife Mindy and Katelyn Lynch Baez and her husband Eli Baez. She is the loving grandmother of Collin, Savannah, Violet Lynch and Mila Baez. Dear sister of  Linda Rooney and her late husband John, Eileen Krell and her husband John. Sister-in-law of Patricia M. Lynch and Maureen D. Parkhurst and her husband Jim. She is also survived by many nieces & nephews. 

Funeral from the Barile Family Funeral Home, 482 Main St. (RT 28) STONEHAM Friday,  October 28th at 9 am followed by a Funeral Mass Celebrating Mary's Eternal Life in St. Patrick Church, 71 Central St. Stoneham at 10 am. Family and friends are cordially invited to gather and share memories with Mary's Family on Thursday October 27th, from 3 pm to 7 pm. Parking attendants and elevator are available.
