Mary R. (Angiuoni) "Ma" Doucette

Mary, affectionately known as “Ma” to close family and friends, passed away peacefully at her home in Reading, MA with family by her side at age 93 on Monday, February 27, 2023.

Born on December 19, 1929 in Woburn, MA, Ma moved to Reading, MA in 1954 after her marriage to her loving husband Arthur “Pa.”  Ma was a well-known figure in the Reading community for the past 70 years.  She was often seen downtown at The Last Corner, The Hot Spot, The Hitching Post, at any and all Church Functions, on one of her long walks, or where she worked at Case Drug or Santoro’s.

Mary was predeceased by her husband Arthur Doucette in 2002.  She is the devoted mother of Karen Garrity and her husband Don Jr., Stephen Doucette, Deborah Wells and her husband Mark, Michael Doucette and his wife Kristen, Brian Doucette and his wife Tara, Michele Iantosca, and Andrew Doucette and his wife Carrie.  Mary is the cherished grandmother of 16 and the doting great grandmother of 7, all of whom were her pride and joy and that she cherished fully.  Mary is the sister of Helen Contreas, Esther Morse, Elizabeth Delorey and the late Anna Casey.

A Funeral Mass will be held on Monday, March 6^th at 10:30am in Mary’s lifelong church, St. Athanasius 300 Haverhill St. READING followed by a private burial.  She requested no visiting hours.
