Obituary

Costa, Mary Claire (MacCormack) -Of Reading, June 22nd. Beloved wife of David G. Costa. Devoted mother of Matthew Costa and his wife Brenda of Billerica, Ben Costa and his wife Betsy Shor of Watertown and Mark Costa and his wife Laura Jean of Woburn. Loving daughter of the late George and Margaret (Casey) MacCormack. Cherished grandmother of Emma Marie, Mela Victoria, Jovie Olivia, Noah Adam, Owen David, and Allie Jean Costa.

Beloved sister of Ellen Clements and her husband John of Virginia Beach, VA and the late George MacCormack and Peggy MacCormack. Sister-in-law of Deborah MacCormack of Naples, FL. Dear friend of Joel and Joanne Rothstein, Ernie and Mary Belanger and Sandy Wilkins and her late husband George.

Mary graduated from St. Mary's Catholic School in Lynn and then went to Salem State College where she studied math and education.  She later attended Boston College and graduate school for her Master's degree.

Mary taught math at Melrose High School, then Reading High School, followed North Essex community college in Lawrence and finally the University of Phoenix online. She later did academic advising at the community college.  She enjoyed getting to know her students and helping them outside the classroom setting.

Mary was also an active participant in her kid's activities including being a den mother for the cub scouts, playing tennis and helping with numerous school projects.  She also tutored many people in math.

Mary was an active member of St Athanasius Parish and faith was an important part of her life.  She attended services regularly with her family.

Funeral from the Cota Funeral Home, 335 Park St. (corner of Park St. and Rte. 28) NORTH READING, at Reading line, on Saturday, June 29th at 9am. Funeral Mass in St. Athanasius Church, 300 Haverhill St., Reading at 10am. Relatives and friends may visit at the funeral home Friday 4-7pm. Interment Charles Lawn Memorial Park, Reading.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Mary's name to the Alzheimer's Assoc., 320 Nevada St #201, Newton, MA 02460.
