Mary Emma McClellan, 67, of Stoneham passed away at her home on October 12, 2022.
Mary was born on December 8, 1954 and raised in Somerville, Massachusetts. After graduating from Fitchburg State College, she began an incredible 34-year teaching career with the city Somerville teaching special education, seventh grade math and third grade.
Mary was a highly motivated and effective teacher dedicated to all the young impressionable minds that she touched. Mary completed her graduate degree at Boston State College and continued to advance her learning through course work at area colleges. Her life was marked by a deep love of family and friends. Mary will be remembered for her kindness and generosity by all who knew her.
Mary is survived by her two brothers Frank McClellan and his wife Sally of York, Maine and Venice, Florida and Gerald McClellan and his wife Kathy of Yarmouth Port, Massachusetts, her niece Sara McClellan Saxton and her husband Matt and their three children of Falls Church, Virginia, her nephew Bryan Sullivan McClellan and his wife Justine and their three children of New Rochelle, New York, her close friend and Hull beach buddy Kathy McEvoy of Cambridge and the Paul Leofanti family of Franklin.
Mary loved her cousins, Georgette Lorenzetti, Denise Scarpa and Kevin Diamond and their families and was committed to keeping the “Otis Street Gang” connected. She will be dearly missed by many grandnieces, grandnephews, friends, and former colleagues. Mary was predeceased by her parents Frank and Harriet McClellan and her cherished nephew Ben McClellan.
A Funeral Mass Celebrating Mary’s Eternal Life will be held on Thursday, October 20th at 10am in Saint Patrick Church, 71 Central Street STONEHAM. Family and friends are cordially invited to gather and share memories with Mary’s Family prior to the Mass from 8:30 – 9:30am in the Barile Family Funeral Home, 482 Main Street (RT 28) STONEHAM. Parking attendants and elevator are available. Interment will be private.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Mary’s memory to Pancreatic Research or a charity of your choice.
