Stoneham, MA- On October 7, 2016 Mary J. (Balsamo) Rosetti, 94, beloved wife, mother, grandmother and friend passed away peacefully after a short illness at the Winchester Hospital with those she loved by her side.
Mary was born in Boston, MA on November 2, 1921 to the late Josephine and Joseph Balsamo. She was raised and educated in Somerville, MA and attended Boston University College of Music. On January 4, 1942 she and her husband Ralph began a magnificent love story which spanned close to seventy-five years. "Unbelievable!!!"
Mary and Ralph moved from Somerville to Stoneham in May of 1951 where she soon became very well-known. She worked at the Town Clerk's Office as well as the Stoneham Public Library. The library came alive when Mary manned the front desk. She filled it with sound and joy along with her treasured colleagues Margaret Donohoe and Betty Whalen, just to name a few.
Mary had many other job positions which included the FBI in Georgia and the Boston Five Cent Savings Bank in Boston. Her most treasured profession was that of a mother and grandmother. She was blessed with two dedicated children along with five truly magnificent grandchildren who brought her nothing but pride and an overabundance of loyalty and devotion. Mary's heart was swollen with love.
Mary is survived by her husband and sweetheart, Ralph along with her daughter Marilyn Jervis and her son Richard Rossetti and his wife Teresa. She was grandmother to Adam Jervis along with Christopher Rossetti and his wife Amanda, Tarryn Rossetti and Nicholas and Stephen Rossetti. She was the sister-in-law of the late Mary, John and Michael Rossetti, Eleanor Bonanno, Josephine Defino, Rose and Llyod Brooks and James and Lorraine Rossetti. She is survived also by many nieces, nephews and friends. She was also predeceased by her son-in-law Robert F. Jervis along with her brother Angelo Balsamo.
Funeral from the Barile Family Funeral Home, 482 Main St. (RT 28) STONEHAM, Thursday, October 13 at 9am followed by a Funeral Mass Celebrating Mary's Eternal Life in Saint Patrick Church, 71 Central St. Stoneham at 10am. Family and friends are cordially invited to gather and share memories with the Family on Wednesday, October 12th from 4-7pm in the Funeral Home. Parking attendants and elevator are available. Interment Lindenwood Cemetery, Stoneham.
