Mary R. (Stewart) Seaberg

Mary R. (Stewart) Seaberg of Reading, formerly of Stoneham, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, October 28, 2020, surrounded by family. She was 97 years of age.

Born on August 6, 1923 in Manchester, New Hampshire, Mary was the daughter of the late Robert Stewart and Mary (Quinlan) Stewart. She is a graduate of the Edward F. Searles High School, Class of 1941 in Methuen, MA and a graduate of St. John's Hospital School of Nursing, Class of 1944 in Lowell, MA, receiving her R.N. Mary began her career as a Registered Nurse at Lowell General Hospital, Ft. Devens, MA in 1944, until entering into active service in the US Army as a 2LT in the Army Corps of Nursing in 1945, where she served in the United States for seven months and in the Asiatic Pacific Theatre for eight months, as a surgical and medical ward Nurse. Mary's decorations included the Asiatic Pacific Campaign Medal and the World War II Victory Medal. After the conclusion of her military career, Mary worked as an assistant Head Nurse at the V.A. Hospital in Jamaica Plain, MA until 1963. Mary was a warm, loving and caring daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother, aunt and friend. She will be truly missed by all who knew her.

Mary was the beloved wife of the late Robert Seaberg. She was the devoted mother of Mary Jane Staffier and her husband Edward, as well as the cherished grandmother of US Army Captain Nicholas Staffier and his wife Rachel, and Daniel, Mariel, Rachel and Ava Staffier. Mary was the dear sister of the late Robert Stewart and aunt of the late Ellen Marie Stewart. She is also survived by six nieces and one nephew.

A Funeral Mass Celebrating Mary's Eternal Life will be held on Saturday, October 31st at 10am in St. Patrick Church, 71 Central St. Stoneham, where she had been a dedicated parishioner since 1964. Family and friends are cordially invited to gather and share memories with the Family on Saturday from 8:30am – 9:30am in the Barile Family Funeral Home, 482 Main St. (RT 28) STONEHAM. Per MA regulations, face coverings must be worn while at the Funeral Home and not more than 40% capacity will be allowed in at one time. Interment St. Patrick's Cemetery, Stoneham.
