Matthew F. McNamara of Reading formerly of Cambridge, passed away on Thursday, March 25, 2010. He was 86 years of age.
Born in Cambridge, he was the loving son of the late Ella (Dineen) McNamara and Matthew McNamara. Matthew was a warm and loving husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend. He will be sadly missed.
During WWII, Matthew proudly defended our freedom by serving in the United States Army.
Matthew graduated from Boston College in 1955 and also attended Salem State College. He was a history teacher at Woburn High School for 35 years.
Beloved husband of Angela (Cotter) McNamara. Devoted father of Paul of Cambridge, John and his wife Diane of Newton, Maureen McManus and her husband Ed of Cambridge, Barbara Malo of Woburn and the late Michael McNamara and his surviving spouse Joan of Billerica. Cherished grandfather of 21, great grandfather of 1. Dear brother of Joseph McNamara and the late Helen McLaughlin and June McNamara.
Funeral from the Doherty-Barile Family Funeral Home 11 Linden St. READING, Monday at 8 am followed by a Funeral Mass Celebrating Matthew's Life in St. Agnes Church, 186 Woburn St., Reading at 9 am. Family and friends are cordially invited to gather and share remembrances with the family on Sunday from 3-7 pm in the funeral home. Parking is available in the municipal parking lot on Linden St. Interment with Military Honors at Wood End Cemetery, Reading.
