Maurice Francis “Mon” O’Shea of Melrose, formerly of Dorchester and Charlestown, June 4, 2022 after a brief illness. Loving and devoted husband for 51 years of Anne M. O’Shea (Callahan). Loving father of Matthew O’Shea and his wife Rachel, Christopher O’Shea and his wife Jennifer and Timothy O’Shea and his wife Kairsten. Cherished Papa to Callie, Josh, Sarah, Maren, Will, Rory, Ryan, and Gavin.

Born June 18th, 1932 to the late Maurice and Mary O’Shea (Malley) in Boston. Raised in the Savin Hill section of Dorchester, Mon was the oldest of 8 children and he was the proud big brother of William O’Shea and his wife Geri, Mary Senier and her late husband Robert, Justin O’Shea and his wife Kathy, Maureen Tomasz and her husband Steve and the late Paul O’Shea, Robert O’Shea and his late wife Mary Lou and Daniel O’Shea.

Mon had a life-long thirst for learning; he attended St. William’s School, Boston Latin School, Northeastern University, St. John’s Seminary, Boston University, and the University of Massachusetts Amherst.

Mon was a past President of Bunker Hill Community College where he worked for 26 years in several executive positions. A member of the Society of St. James the Apostle, he spent 7 years as a missionary in Santa Cruz, Bolivia. Mon is a Past President of the Charlestown Historical Society. Mon loved to read and was passionate about history; he loved his Red Sox, Celtics, and Patriots, and in his earlier days he loved the beach; most notably his time at Hampton Beach with his family. Above all, Mon cherished his family, his wife Anne, his 3 sons and their families, and his brothers and sisters and their families.

Funeral from the Barile Family Funeral Home, 482 Main St. (RT 28) STONEHAM, Monday, June 13th at 9am followed by a Funeral Mass Celebrating Mon’s Eternal Life in St. Patrick Church, 71 Central St. Stoneham at 10am. Family and friends are cordially invited to gather and share memories with Mon’s Family on Sunday, June 12th from 2-5pm in the Funeral Home. Parking attendants and elevator are available. Interment Blue Hills Cemetery, Braintree.
