Michael Alberta

Michael Alberta of Saugus MA, formerly of Stoneham, passed away on Saturday, October 8, 2016 at the age of 68 years. Michael was a warm and caring son, brother, husband, father, grandfather, uncle and friend to many. He will be deeply missed by his family and friends.

Born on April 20, 1948 in the province of Foggia, Italy, Michael was the loving son of the late Giuseppe Alberta and Pierina (Zeuli) Alberta. He moved to Massachusetts with his family as a teenager. He loved his family. They were first and foremost in his life. Michael was the beloved husband of Fadia Haddad Alberta and the late Nella Alberta. He was the devoted father of Joseph Alberta and his wife Kimberly, Lauren Alberta-Wszolek and her husband Matthew, and stepfather of Rami Haddad and Lina Abreu and her husband Engel. Michael was the cherished grandfather of Ella, Clara, Lidia, Benjamin, Juliana, Elisa, Mila and Malek. He was the dear brother of Bernice Balboni and her husband Edmund, Giovanni Alberta and his wife Maria Domenica, the late Cristina D'Ardes and her late husband Alessandro, and the late Matteo Alberta and his surviving wife Rosa. Michael is also survived by many loving nieces and nephews both locally and in Italy.

Mike loved carpentry and was a loyal and dedicated general contractor, co-owning Alberta & Balboni Construction for over 30 years. Mike was always available to help family and friends with carpentry projects or whatever else they needed him for. He always did this with a smile. He enjoyed sports, especially soccer, and took pride in coaching his kids' soccer teams and kicking the soccer ball with his grandchildren. He cherished all things Italian, especially bread, pasta, cheese and olives. Mike loved to travel and spend time with his family and friends. He especially treasured his grandchildren and loved being their "Nonno." His beautiful blue eyes and contagious laugh will be truly missed.

Funeral from the Barile Family Funeral Home, 482 Main St. (RT 28) STONEHAM, Friday, October 14th at 9am followed by a Funeral Mass Celebrating Michael's Eternal Life in St. Patrick Church, 71 Central St. Stoneham at 10am. Family and friends are cordially invited to gather and share memories with the Family on Thursday, October 13th from 4-8pm in the Funeral Home. Parking attendants and elevator are available. Interment Mount Auburn Cemetery, Cambridge.
