Obituary

Akel, Mitchell G. -Of North Reading, June 11. Beloved son of the late John and Najla Akel. Brother of the late Madeline May Hashem and niece Denise Parks. Mitchell is survived by his dear sister Dolores (Akel) Parks and nephews John J. Hashem Jr., Stephen and Kenneth Parks; nieces Diane (Hashem) Thornton, Michelle (Parks) Faugno and Janine Parks.  Mitchell is also survived by many loving grand-nieces and grand-nephews. Mitchell was born and raised in Boston, he was a graduate of Wentworth Institute of Technology where he received a degree in Drafting. He worked at Stone & Webster, Greater Lawrence Voc. Tech and Liberty Chevrolet.  Mitch was an avid boater, longtime member of the Town River Yacht Club, US Coast Guard Auxiliary, the Shriners, Masons, Eastern Star and a frequent blood donor at the American Red Cross. Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Funeral Mass for Mitchell in St. Theresa's Church, 63 Winter St. (Rte. 62), North Reading on Friday, June 17 th at 10:30am. Visitation with the family will be held on Thursday in the Funeral Home from 4-7pm. Interment will be private. Please omit flowers and make donations in Mitchell's name to EMARC, 26 Princess St., Wakefield, MA 01880.
